downtown Los Gatos with
the kids in tow, be sure
to stop at Automobuild.
Located on Main Street,
walking distance from Old
Town and Santa Cruz Avenue
shops, Automobuild is a
specialty toy store with a
focus on classic cars.
This is one of those shops
where you can feel the
passion of the local owners,
John and Kirsten Dryden, the
minute you step through the
door. Opened just last June,
Automobuild celebrates cars
and other "building" toys.
The Drydens were inspired
to design a store that
offered a unique shopping
and learning experience for
children and their parents.
Kirsten Dryden said, "One of
our main goals is to excite
car lovers and their children (or grandchildren) through
a creative educational
environment and enticing
merchandise. We designed
the store with the theme of
a classic garage and we are
excited to showcase all of
the automobile pieces to our
customers."
Interactive play areas allow
children to build toys and/or
race slot cars while flat
screen monitors provide
entertainment and education.
John Dryden said, "As a
dad, I wanted to have a
store where I can bring my
son and daughter and share
with them my passion for
automobiles. I can teach
them how things work and
the evolution of technology.
While playing with toys and
building models, they can
experience how automobiles
work and are built."
Beyond cars, Automobuild
is filled with unique toys
that are handpicked and not
seen in other stores. Also,
Automobuild hosts monthly
events and birthday parties.

to welcome visitors Monday
through Saturday, from 10
a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday,
10 a.m.-5 p.m.
